What constitutes a genuine collectable?
A genuine Pixie Pirelli 'collectable' is defined in chapter three of Kate Thompson's 'Sex, Lies & Fairytales'. Bookseller Cleo Dowling makes the following observation: 'Wow. You sign fast. But your signature's changed. I seem to remember that when I ordered signed copies of yours from the distributors in the past, you put little "o's" instead of dots over all your "i's".' Pixie's response: 'Its had to change. I sign so much stock now that I don't have time to do the "o's". Four "o's" adds vital minutes when you're signing thousands of copies. I used to put kisses, too, and "Love, Pixie", and even smiley faces sometimes, but when I saw my PR girl drumming her fingers on the table during a stock-signing session, I knew I had to give up the personal touches. Now I just sign and run.' This is what constitutes a genuine collectable. Some second-hand dealers on Amazon are offering signed copies as collectables. Sorry: Pixie can't vouch that these are genuine. Three authentic collectables recently fetched over €100.00 on a special eBay auction, with all proceeds going to UNICEF (receipt number: 268616). €100.00 may seem like a small amount, but just €20.00 will feed ten hungry children for a week. So, you can imagine that genuine collectables are as hard to find as a good man ;-) |
